Kate and Jarrad

Ever thought of having a backyard wedding? Well, if your backyard is a tropical oasis nestled in the Territory bush like Kate and Jarrad’s, then why not.

The pair wed in their Humpty Doo backyard with no bridal party, just the two of them standing before their closest family and friends. As the sun set the guests enjoyed a drink, while Jarrad, Kate and I jumped in their ute and headed down a 4WD track, for a shoot in the Top End’s unique bush landscape. At the reception, the lighting, decorations and rugs sprawled on the lawn for a dance floor were the couple’s own creative touch.

A few of my favourites moments were being with Kate as she got ready at her friend Laura’s beautiful rural home, the moment Kate’s parents hugged at the end of the aisle to recognise each other for bringing up such a beautiful girl (this is the first time I have seen it) and watching these two in the middle of nowhere together as newlyweds. This wedding was all around enjoyable because of the pair at the centre.
