“I fell in love with photography long before I could afford a camera.
Growing up, my father captured almost every moment of our childhood with an old-school film camera. I was inspired by the way he used lighting and composition to create beautiful images. My dad gave me my first manual SLR camera when I was a teenager, and off we went shooting weddings together.
At 19, I moved from Darwin to Sydney to study a Bachelor of Visual Communication (Photography and Imaging) at Western Sydney University.
“Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to be the official photographer for two universities: Western Sydney University and Charles Darwin University.
I was also the features photographer for the NT News, famous across the country for its weird and wonderful stories.
I have photographed almost everything, from former Australian Prime Ministers (the late Gough Whitlam) to sedated crocs hanging out of car windows for Cars Guide – and I’ve loved every minute of it.
“Today, I am privileged to run my own business, capturing special moments for wonderful people. I often get asked what my favourite type of photography is — and my response is simple: anything with people.
Both my parents worked in welfare, and I was fortunate to learn from their amazing ability to connect with people. They have encouraged my love of, and interest in, people from all walks of life.
Everybody has a story – I’d love to capture yours.”
